THE FLAGSHIP PRACTITIONER PROGRAMME
More Than an Introduction to Software
The VPD Bootcamp is organised around a professional production outcome rather than a tour of menus and buttons. You will learn the Unreal Engine foundations underpinning virtual cinematography and real-time production while developing a short cinematic sequence of your own.
Every session combines instructor demonstration, guided application and production thinking. The emphasis is not only on how a tool works, but why a filmmaker, educator or creative technologist would use it within a contemporary workflow.
No previous Unreal Engine experience is required. Confidence using professional creative software and a willingness to practise between sessions are recommended.
01
Learn Live
Interactive instruction, questions and direct guidance throughout each session.
02
Build Practically
Apply each concept inside your own Unreal Engine project.
03
Think Cinematically
Connect technical decisions to composition, lighting, lenses and storytelling.
04
Finish a Sequence
Leave with a rendered cinematic outcome and a repeatable production process.
YOUR PRODUCTION OUTCOME
What You Will Create
A finished 20 to 45-second cinematic sequence demonstrating an integrated real-time workflow.
- A cinematic virtual environment
- Purposeful real-time lighting and exposure
- A digital actor or animated subject
- Cine Camera composition and movement

- A final output through Movie Render Queue
The Bootcamp introduces the Unreal Engine foundations supporting virtual cinematography and real-time production.

BEFORE YOU ENROL
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Bootcamp suitable for beginners?
Yes. No previous Unreal Engine experience is required. Participants should be comfortable using professional software, managing files and completing short exercises independently between live sessions.
Is this a prerecorded or self-paced course?
No. The Bootcamp is delivered live. Recordings are provided for review for 30 days, but they do not replace attendance, interaction and active participation.
How much work should I expect between sessions?
Plan for approximately two to four hours of self directed practice between meetings. The exact time depends on your familiarity with 3D software and the ambition of your cinematic sequence.
What certificate will I receive?
Participants who attend the live programme and complete the final outcome receive a VPD Certificate of Completion. It is a professional training certificate.
What happens if my computer is not powerful enough?
Review the technical guidance before registering. The orientation session is intended to identify installation or performance concerns, but VPD cannot guarantee that unsupported hardware will run the project reliably.
Can an organisation enrol a private team?
Yes. VPD can develop a private online cohort for a studio, university or creative organisation. Private delivery is scoped and priced separately through the Commission a Programme pathway.
